February 18, 2011 at 7:03 pm[cosmo jarvis] “The sequence settings are set to 44.1 because all my externally recorded audio was recorded that way, so i figured it’d be easier to change that than convert all my audio to 48Khz. “
Not good Cosmo!
FCP operates natively using 48khz audio, and you should get out of the mindset that converting properly to 48khz is a burden.
You can set iTunes to automatically convert all of the 44.1khz audio files you import to 48khz.

February 18, 2011 at 8:16 pmThank you very much for your reply,
I have some further questions:If I do convert all my 44.1 files to 48 after I have completed my cut, can I then reconnect the 44.1 versions of the files with the 48Khz versions?
Also, will the fact that the footage was captured with 48Khz audio make a difference to the relationship between the separately recorded 44.1 audio and the footage (if the 44.1 audio is removed from the sequence)?
I am so damn confused. Why does FCP give the option to work in 44.1 then?

February 18, 2011 at 11:05 pmIn our case there was no sample rate or bit rate mismatch, so the only solution we could find was trashing the caches, including the Thumbnail Cache, which I don’t think I included on my list above.
