The hdforindies report about that is definitely incorrect. The HVX absolutely will output all modes (DV, DVCPRO25, DVCPRO50, and DVCPRO-HD) through firewire. FocusInfo has already announced plans to build a FireStore that will record the DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO-HD output from the firewire port.

It seems that over and over again it is forgotten in these comparisons that tape is both acquisition and archive. P2 is for acquisition only. So you still have to burn a dozen of optical disks per shooting day or buy $Xk data vtr or maintain a massive raid5 setup.
