OT, first screen on clean install a Kernal Panic?

You might want to run the hardware test disc that came with your G5. Might not have anything to do with your reinstall, could just be bad timing.
Last fall my 2.5 Quad G5 would give me a Kernal Panic within 10 minutes of booting it, once it would reboot it was fine. Very strange. Turns out after I took the system in to Apple I had a bad processor.
Worth running the hardware test to see if you have any issues. On the bright side since I had so many problems with that system and I was under Apple Care, they gave me a new computer.

Negatory on that Mortimer… Just the Apple OS, QT, and ProApps. You are responsible for updating drivers for your cards.
