January 9, 2013 at 11:09 pmIt probably says a lot about how the ATI/AMD 5770 is compared to nVidia 680MX.
Personally this leads me to believe that I may be correct in assuming the MacPro replacement will have to have a significant GPU to outperform.
For the fun of it, you could check CPU% when you run that to see what’s happening in that department.

Honestly, I thought when I was doing this that two blurs at extreme levels with randomness over 30 seconds would be enough test the systems, but Apple doesn’t care about pros anymore and now we don’t even have time to get coffee between renders.
Jerks.

January 9, 2013 at 11:30 pmFWIW – the new Fusion drives inside the iMacs also clock in at over 300 on the BMD read/write test.

January 9, 2013 at 11:39 pmOh yeah! i’m getting between 300 and 400. Sweet.
That’s awesome.
Sorry, we literately got it in last night and migrated everything overnight. Haven’t had a ton of time to play with today. Apparently people keep expecting us to work or something.
This thing is stupid quiet, too.
Although the glare shot didn’t do it justice, I won’t be buying anymore cinema displays until this becomes standard on all. It’s much better, especially straight on.

Clearly Apple doesn’t care about pros. This is proof. Amateurs and hobbyists have no patience so they need real time performance. Pros, we’re used to long renders especially if we’re billing by the hour. 😉
That an iMac is that fast should be conclusive evidence that Apple doesn’t care about Pros at all. -

The one niggle is that the 3TB Fusion drive doesn’t support Bootcamp (yet) whereas the 1TB FD does.
I know some people think I’m a Mac fanbois but I do use Windows a lot. -
