Fianlly….. Somebody said it! I was just watching the furor take place over the “security and virus” issue with Macs. The thing is…. there’s not one. That’s the main reason people are jumping to FCP and Macs. I have a friend that purchased Avids on PCs and they have had a real nightmare with security issues, viruses and drives going down for no apparent reason.

So I have to ask… Is a $40k Avid really better than a FCP on a Mac?

The only thing we have to watch is resource hungry programs like DVDSP and After Effects. Other than that…. ALWAYS backup and don’t install stupid crap on your computers just because it looks and acts cool.

    Unfortunately, thats not entirely true.

A little bit of precaution is worth it. Having attachments and files scanned for viruses in another computer is easy to do and doesnt take more that a minute or two. My point was, the minor inconvience is worth it compared to having a $20k or $100k system go down to a virus. We run Macs, PCs and Linux machines here, so we like to make sure everyone has good protection.
