February 28, 2012 at 5:23 amAccording to James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar), all film and TV will be filmed in 3D within the next 5 years. He says there should be 100% adoption of 3D in cinemas in the next 3 years, and that home 3D will increase once glasses-free technology improves…..

Which part?
Cinema delivery will be 95% by closed network in just a few years, and since the cost of 3D projectors is not much more than 2D projectors, the distribution will be saturated with 3D-ready theaters.Glasses-free technology? It’s already here. I’ve seen it at NAB and it’s pretty impressive.
Go into any Sony Style store and look at all the consumer 3D they are selling.
Just because you don’t see 3D in your future doesn’t mean that it isn’t coming.
Ten years ago videographers were laughing at the idea that everything would be HD in five years. “Ain’t gonna happen”, they said.
50-years ago “they” said the same thing about color TV.
75-years ago “they” said the same thing about color cinema.
100-years ago “they” said the same about “talkies” movies.Steve Mann
