GREAT PRODUCT!!!
I have been using my NEXTO`for a few weeks. It is very flexible and a great option for backing up cards in the field.
Only comment I could possibly have is regarding having to cable the external drive. Would be great if there was some sort of sliding dock like the Panasonic P2 stuff.
We actually use raw 2.5 drives externally (in a temporary enclosure which exposes their regular SATA and SATA POWER connections. Was able to find a esataP to traditional sata & sata power cable.
Small bump. Rest has been smooth sailing.
I’ll check out the drive you recommend.
Thanks for a good product!

April 10, 2011 at 7:24 amHi, Chris
It’s really good to hear that you’re happy with Nexto NVS-2525.
Thanks for the suggestions and I’ve forwarded it to NextoDI.NVS devices have been designed to be most flexible, fast, reliable and also cost effective but keep in portable design. The product dimensions and weights are 154 x 91 x 33 mm / 430g with HDD.
In this sense, you’d probably agreed why NVS comes with an internal hard disk instead of user swappable hard disk. Many thanks,
Joseph K

Picked up a seagate drive and adaptor over the weekend. Ran a test and Perfect. Just what the Dr. ordered. Now I can maintain a safety copy and still send my client along his way with his own drive. For us in our run run run world, pointing out that drive to us was huge. Now by the time we finish striking we are truly ready to part with the client and everyone has everything they are supposed to have.Just a quick question. Firmware updates? Was wondering what the plan is for AVC Intra. I tend not to show my client the screen when we shoot AVC Intra but instead hook up P2CMS since its a bit smoother on playback.
Was hoping to see you at NAB but work got in the way. Cant wait to see what else is on the way.
best

May 12, 2011 at 4:00 pmHey Chris,
As far as ESATA goes with the NVS2525, I found it is a lot glitchier and touchy, meaning it can easily be bumped and stopped downloading or have a hard time downloading all the way through without finding an error. The only time I used the ESATA was for when we were syncing. Also, multi-copy can be very problematic at times, so i definitely recommend single copies if in a rush and have a lot of footage to download.
And in terms of the accessories and running off AC power all the above you mentioned are true. The cigarette adapter worked fine, AC power was the best and i recommend being on it anytime you have the ability to use it because it takes a while for the Nexto to recharge.
G-raids worked wonderfully with the NVS2525. But I haven’t heard of anyone complaining about any other hard drive or ESATA not being really compatible with the device. All in all, I loved the Nexto. I had to use it while doing an on the road for a month, constantly moving shooting all the time TV/Documentary, and it never gave me problems, and made downloading at night much easier!
Hope this helps.

May 24, 2011 at 4:57 pmHi, NextoDI released new firmware (V1.11) for NVS-2525 (not Udf special). You can download free from https://www.nextodi.com/support/view.php?bbs=en_download&id=68
The manufacturer told me it will improve compatibility with external eSATAp.
Thank you,
Joseph
