Think it will replace CF pretty well. I went to the Apple event today and the COLOR demo was pretty amazing. Send your sequence right out of FCP. Shots all show up in the new COLOR timeline. Has Curves alla Avid. Includes special looks that can be applied like Natress Plugs-ins, when your in a rush to CC.

Yeah looks really cool. Let’s see if it really replaces CF.
But there are people complaining it’s a stand alone application rather than a plug in because you then have to export to Color and can’t work inside FCP.
I also just read a rumor that Color is actually Final Touch 2K. If it’s true, wow! That was a $24,000 application.
Well, CF can still sell to windows users.

Looking at the interface, and looking at the FinalTouch interface (the Silicon Image web site is still up)….. it looks like Final Touch 2K has gone from $25,000 to FREE with Final Cut Pro Studio…..

[thewanggao] “Correct me if I’m wrong… is this interface identical to the former Final Touch?”

Absolutely. That $25,000 application four months ago now has a new name and a new price tag, $0.

There’s nothing like it out there and it’s insane that Apple is giving away what I paid $5,000 for last year, but there you go. You will not believe what you will be able to do with this application and a lot of daVinci artists are going to be upset with this move. I’m not thrilled having paid so much last year but what are you going to do?

If you say there’s nothing like that out there, that means it also beats Color Finesse?
CF is pretty powerful and most people always said there was nothing out there besides the extreme high end stuff like Da Vinci to compare with it.

Hands down. I tried Color Finesse when we were having problems with Final Touch HD and it was like a toy compared to FT. Now called Color, it’s a realtime color corrector in the sense that you can play back your work in the application in realtime. So you’re grading and immediately playing back what you did.

Also, saving off all your effects and color grades are much easier and simpler to use than Color Finesse. Add the ColorFX room to the mix along with the 8 secondaries AND Primary Out and there’s nothing like this out there. I don’t think many people have seen or played with Final Touch outside of colorists, I know very few editors besides myself who ever considered using it. As a coloring tool it’s the best thing I ever used and I’m happy to see that Apple seems to have fixed the I/O of the timeline.
