June 27, 2011 at 2:03 pmI agree that it probably won’t do any harm to the system, but why chance it?
There are no more chances to install FCS3 fresh ever again at least from Apple software update.

June 27, 2011 at 2:13 pmYikes – I hadn’t considered this – what happens if I have a disc crash – I can re- instal snow and FCP7 – but will apple still update FCP to the current version, FCP 7.0.3?
Anyone got a standalone updater!
Ken.

June 27, 2011 at 2:25 pmThat’s what I alluded to earlier. Freeze your system and clone it. Now. No more system updates to that disk. Ever.

June 27, 2011 at 2:59 pmJust checked on the apple site, they still have pro applications update 2010-02 available. It’s a 310 MB download and I assume it will update FCP studio 3 to the following:
Final Cut Pro 7.0.3
Motion 4.0.3
Color 1.5.3
Compressor 3.5.3
Apple Qmaster 3.5.3I’m downloading now!
Best,
Ken.

Everything still available in Apple Downloads.
Time to save everything.

BTW Jeremy, in which direction is your company moving, after FCX’s release? -

This must have been restored as they were not available last week.
[Rafael Amador] “BTW Jeremy, in which direction is your company moving, after FCX’s release?”
Still up in the air. We are not reacting one way or another quite yet. There’s a lot that intrigues me about FCPx, mainly the keyword organization which will help me a lot. We obviously can’t use it as it stands today, but that doesn’t worry me a whole lot.
My instincts tell me to wait until Lion, and then wait six months.
If we had to jump ship today, it would be Adobe as it’s basically FCP with no Color and understands FCP7’s XML architecture. Also, out of the whole Adobe Production suite, the only program I am unfamiliar with is PPro. I think it would be a relatively easy switch.
As of now, though, we are being patient. Thanks for asking.

June 27, 2011 at 8:27 pmHi Jeremy,
Soon I will need to look for a new option, and my choice, will be very much based on the experiences and opinion of a few guys like you, Shane, David, etc.
I’m not pressed, but I don’t gonna wait till the last moment. In the other hand, I need something new to keep learning and updated.

I hear you. It’s a little confusing at the moment.
At least the updates were made available if we ever need to reinstall FCS3 and Snow Leopard from scratch again. This will buy us a bit more time to think it all over, try and test new workflows and wait for any news.

FC.5 updates still available and I think Apple will keep the FCS2/3 stuff available for long.
We may don’t buy FCX, but Apple will prefer us working on FC.7, than shifting to PP or AVID, and of course, the worst for them: Buying a PC.
They have no much to win on that, but upsetting people.
But with iApple, who knows?
