February 29, 2012 at 6:04 pmWould be cool to hear your findings. MacOSX-support for Quadro 5000 and 6000 would potentially be interesting as well.
As you say though, I wouldn’t want to invest X-thousand $ finding the solution rendered useless by apple in a month or two. Also, it would be interesting to know how wide the support is in terms of OpenCL, OpenGL, Quartz and of course CUDA acceleration.

February 29, 2012 at 11:52 pm@Would I be able to install three GTX580 and a Red Rocket?
Yes I think you should bea able to do that Ola. I’ve now 2×470, 1redRocket and one 4LaneEsata card in it and it works like a charm. Space is enough in the Desktop 4 for 4 double space cards

March 5, 2012 at 12:23 pmSo we have run more tests, this time without a Cubix expansion, and with just a GT120/Mac and a GTX570/PC inside a Mac Pro.
At HD, we could 11 nodes of image blurs at 24fps.
In the Mac Pro, we also have the Red Rocket card and the Decklink card in the x4 PCI-E slots.

March 5, 2012 at 5:19 pmYou should throw out dvd. Then you can connect the 6 pin – to molex using dvd power.

March 5, 2012 at 7:16 pmThanks Mikhail, I’ll give it a look.
The thing is I still make dvds from time to time, might be going with an external dvd if the 570 really gives me more realtime power.NEHALEM OCTO 2,26

March 5, 2012 at 9:20 pmWhat i did with my 470, i just “merged” 2 cables in the middle.
So generally you have black wires and yellow wires going from one end to the other.
I i did cut one extra cable up and soldered 3 ends again together and
got one cable with extra power output. Now i still have 2 gpu ports on motherboard but one splits half in the other end
and powers my 4000 and second slot for 470.—

March 6, 2012 at 12:52 amMargus, you’re running a Q4000 and GTX 470 inside your Mac Pro?

March 6, 2012 at 6:02 amThe GTX570 needs only 2 x 6-pin connectors, so is no different from a Q4800/GTX470 in that regard.

March 6, 2012 at 7:26 amYes.
With the Y cable i mentioned.
After installation ups failed 🙂 but machine was working nice so i had to loose this ups unit
as its total power rating was to low. I have to see its numbers when i get to the office again. In the end of the week i could make photos of the mentioned cable if interested.
I can not comment other gpus and power needs.
