August 15, 2018 at 1:58 amIt’s a hard lesson to learn that Resolve will not allow you to change frame rates once a timeline is started. I don’t know why they have that limitation. Other NLEs don’t.

August 15, 2018 at 2:11 amYeah, it’s really the only brick wall I’ve ever hit in years of using it – and it’s all my fault for somehow not hitting the “Change” button when prompted at importing the first clip. That nanosecond is costing me a lot of time ☺ oh well – I’m wiser now!

November 29, 2018 at 9:25 pmhi, delete all your media, then go to the project settings and change the project frame rate to the desired. Save and close the settings tab. UNDO (cmd+z/ctrl+z) and the media that you deleted is restored but the change you made in the settings stays the same. This also works if you want to change the mixed frame rate option.

July 31, 2019 at 1:06 amThanks to Hasan and Michal,
This solution worked for me in 15.3 – I’ve been looking for a work around for incorrect timeline frame rates and this is by far the least painful! Not sure why Gary thinks it’s an unacceptable solution – perhaps because it’s something BM could address, but this solution keeps the grades and edits intact.
Thanks again!

January 4, 2020 at 5:52 amI am working at NTSC 29.67 fps but need to send an MP4 video to someone with a PAL 25 fps. I would like to preserve the musical pitch in spite of this. I do have the original encoded in Pro Res. Could I successfully change the frame rate and the sound output. Using Da Vinci?
Thanks

January 4, 2020 at 7:15 amHi Terence,
In theory the method described here for recreating timeline to retain grades and other post work could work, however it will probably effect the pitch and you’d need to trial and error adjusting in Resolve. I’ve found using the “change speed” in Edit mode can cause issues when you check the “adjust pitch to match” box – I’ve had phasing occur esp in stereo mode. Alternatively there are some good plugins to adjust pitch that don’t cause these issues. SoundShifter by WAVES works well in Resolve.
That said, I don’t have experience going from 29.67 NTSC to 25PAL and there will be skipped frames or some shift in the picture when you make the transfer. You may also find it’s better to do the picture xfer to 25 through Deliver in Resolve, then bring it into a 25fps timeline and do the sound shift/pitch change then.
Good luck!!

Thanks for that advice. I will play around with it. My problem is that I am sending a video of a violinist playing back to him in France. I can see that I probably will never win this one. However it will be a great “learning experience”!
Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.
