WOW! That is eye opening. :-O
I can’t explain this but your computer does not behave like mine or everyone else who has purchased Production Assistant 2. Normally, when a slug is inserted on the timeline, it gets a default name of (Unknown) and it receives an icon of either Video or Audio and the Track # and Event # is updated. NONE of that is happening on your computer!
This is what I saw in your video after inserting a slug:
This is what it’s supposed to do after inserting a slug:
I can’t explain this. Note that all of the previous pictures I’ve posted to this thread had the icon and track #, event #. You should be able to add a name, click on the next slug and add another, and then click back on the first and the name gets refreshed to the first name but that’s not happening on your computer.
There is one thing that you are doing wrong and perhaps it’s my bad interface design. You are saving the template at the beginning and never saving it again. The template is just like a Vegas project. If you don’t save it at the end after all of the edits are made, none of your changes will be saved. So even after we figure out what’s going wrong with your PC, you still need to press the save icon on the main toolbar to save all of the changes you have made to the template. I guess the Media Slug Annotation icon is confusing. It only saves the data to that particular slug. It does not save the whole template. I’ll see what I can do make this more clear.
The only think I can suggest is to reboot your computer to make sure that Vegas Pro is not hung in memory as it sometimes is. Then uninstall Production Assistant 2, re-install Production Assistant 2, and restart Vegas Pro and see if that helps. Perhaps somehow there is an older copy of Template Creator installed.
BTW, It also looks like you may have your computer configured to use a non-standard font size because I see some of the names are cut-off. If you are using Windows 7, right-click on the desktop, select Screen Resolution and then in the next window click on Make text and other items larger or smaller. Your setting should be at 100%. If it’s anything but 100%, change it to 100% and that display problem should go away. I don’t know if this has anything to do with your other problem.

January 6, 2013 at 4:40 pmHi John,
Thanks for your reply. I looked into your suggestions:
Multiple savings of the template doesn’t solve the problem.
My screen resolution is 125%. I set it back to 100% as you suggested, but that makes no difference.
Also rebooting the computer followed by de-installation and re-installation has no effect. The only older version of PA2 I have had installed is 2.09. Before that, I had PA1 installed.
The strange thing is that I haven’t found yet any other problem with PA2. Still I’m afraid that a re-install of Windows might be the only solution?

January 6, 2013 at 6:16 pmI’m sorry none of that worked. Perhaps a re-installation of Vegas Pro? What build of 12.0 are you on?
Here’s what’s going on under the covers. The Template Creator is hooking into the Vegas Pro message system and telling it that whenever an event selection changes, let it know. Then when it gets the event selection message, it finds the selected event and fills the Media Slug Annotations accordingly. That is obviously not happening because I saw you change events in the video and nothing happened in the Template Creator. I don’t know why Vegas isn’t sending those change messages to Template Creator but maybe a re-install of Vegas Pro will get it started again? Just a guess at this point (sorry I don’t have anything better).
Vegas Pro Production Assistant is a Sony product and their help desk is the first level of support so feel free to contact Sony about this and they will get us (VASST) involved as needed. The difference is, if it’s a problem with Vegas Pro itself, they will be involved to help. I can’t fix Vegas Pro and unfortunately I can’t fix a problem that I can’t reproduce. 🙁

January 8, 2013 at 10:23 pmHi John,
Thanks again for your help.
I have Vegas 12 pro build 394 installed.Uninstalling and re-installing Vegas did not solve the problem. I think the next step will be re-installing Windows. If that doesn’t help, I might meet you again through the Sony helpdesk. But that will not be within a couple of weeks, since I will be a little bit busy the coming weeks.

January 9, 2013 at 1:53 pmSorry I don’t have anything else for you to try. I’ve never seen Vegas Pro and Production Assistant behave that way before. 🙁
