Hope you are right. hiwever it seems strange to me that they havent announced cs7.
ITs not even on the adobe site. Based on their release announcement they should have.

Adobe did the same thing last year — they only previewed CS6 at NAB. They formally announced CS6 in late April, then actually shipped it in early May.

You’re right Walter – at NAB time last year, I was only able to buy CS5.5, but luckily, with the promise that I could upgrade to CS6 for free! Which I did, and then paid 20 bucks for the backup discs. A great deal. I would swear I heard that whatever is coming after NAB was going to be called CS6.5, but maybe I heard wrong…

I’m kind of baffled why it’s even an issue? Why not just sign up for Creative Cloud, at an annual price cheaper than buying any single Adobe program outright, and have access to all the CS software and guaranteed early updates?

I’m not criticizing, I’m just genuinely curious why someone would want to purchase the products on their own now? I did notice that you can get subscription versions of individual products now, like with the Cloud, but I would assume those would get early updates as well. Even then, if you use more than two the Cloud’s still cheaper.

the only thing is that David Roth Weiss stepped into the debate forum and said – like he really basically knew – that adobe were going direct to 7.

by the by, are you staying license or going cloud yourself? I can’t make up my mind.

I am staying perpetual even if i can prepay the year i will be paying more for stuff i wont use and capabilities that dont interest plus not owning what i paid for. so il take it like it is if something else comes around i will switch if its better.

I’m going to stick with the license for at least one more major rev. I’m one of those Luddites who want to have the discs on his desk.

I try to set aside money for upgrades. I’m thinking I’ve probably paid 4 or more times the retail price for the software over the years.
I’m one of those who likes to have the software here at my side.

However… As a Hobbyist, I can’t push through another monthly bill.

And if Software stays as is (CS6)… Hardware then doesn’t need to evolve.

With all the Oil-Based cost increases we’ve absorbed over the years, this action could mean great changes for the “Hobbyist” market that Adobe has.

[David Cherniack] “To put you out of your misery 🙂

    Official comment from Adobe:

“We are not doing away with perpetual licenses. They will continue with CS7 and beyond.

But yes currently there is a bit of a marketing push towards Creative Cloud.”

Sorry, but this is totally wrong.

There is nothing on that page that says what the post above claims.

The exact quote from Adobe on that thread is “We are not doing away with purchasing a new perpetual license for CS6 or upgrading an existing perpetual license to CS6..”

There is no mention of perpetual licenses being available for CS7 or beyond.
