March 3, 2010 at 12:35 amnot if you want to use multicam, like everyone is telling you, for multicam all the clips need to match, codec, framerate and size.

March 3, 2010 at 12:43 ami understand that, but there is not way of matching the frame rates before i use them as a multicam after the footage has already been shot?
thanks.
i really appreciate it! -

March 3, 2010 at 2:56 amBut you have to convert the clips if you want to use them in a multicam clip. I don’t use RED and 5D footage so I cannot give the how to do it. But I do use multicam, and to use that feature everything needs to be the same, same codec, same. I know you can do the retime to the 5D clips in compressor when you convert the H264 to prores. I’m sure one of the RED apps should be able to add the pull down when goes to the prores also.
I think in the end there are going be a syncing problem after convert the footage since you have to do 2 different processes. Retime the 30p footage and add the pull down in the other.
Maybe better to do this the old school way of the footage on 2 tracks and reduce each to fit left and right, cut and then remove the unwanted clips, then remove the resizing attribute.

March 3, 2010 at 10:30 amWould it be heresy to suggest the “A” word in this context? I believe Avid can deal with multi-format multicam. I’m not sure about the frame rates though. There is an Avid forum here in the green pastures.
Regards, Matt.
