Multiple fontstyles in 1 textlayer via expressions, finally
Posted by Filip Vandueren on March 1, 2023 at 6:35 pmStill needs further experimenting, but I think I finally found a robust and stable workaround.
Need to think about a good way to automatically adjust kerning/spacing.

March 5, 2023 at 9:17 amFilip, this looks amazing! One idea which goes into the head right after seeing this – how are you planning to control the index of font on words to be used?

I’m hearing around how people would actually need to use this, so all suggestions are welcome.

March 6, 2023 at 9:57 pmIn my case, I need to create a mogrt for subtitles and have selected words be in italics or bold.
For the italic part I can get by with a skew animator but the real deal would be much better!

March 8, 2023 at 8:06 amFilip, thats exactly the thing – people wants this but they are not aware of limitations once its there, ha!
Anyways, I would guess it could be done in a few ways, very similar like text animators works:
1. By char index
2. By word
3. By lineStarting with only two styles to begin with, and then seeing how to make use out of it? Just an idea!

March 15, 2023 at 2:03 pmFor now I only need the client to type 1 line which has Light and Bold.
So I just made a simple setup with a slider control that selects a range for the light/bold style.
Does not work well with typo’s that have big width differences between the characters.
A typefont that is close to monospace font should work just fine.
