August 12, 2018 at 10:18 pmI also had this nagging problem recently. Something is working for me so I thought I’d post it here so I can learn better because the solution I found may turn out to be a fluke. Either way, it may help the next noob like me that comes along.
I also used these settings:
Sync on: audio
Sequence preset: automatic
Audio sequence settings: All cameras
Audio Channels Preset: MonoI was also getting all sound mixed at full volume on only one left channel even though the sequence was created with channels to match the number of audio sources. So if you have 8 audio sources, you’ll get 8 channels depending on your settings.
But the fact that you’re seeing 8 active channels does not mean you’re getting 8 different panning positions. The default seems to be to pan all 8 sources to the left so no matter how many sources you have, it will sound like one source because you’re only hearing it in one ear.
I found that you can reduce the number of channels created under “Sequence Settings”. For my current project, I feel I will only need a left and a right channel so I reduced the number of channels to 2.
The next step is the important one: The Audio Clip Mixer. That’s where you assign levels and panning to each audio source. I found out that all sources were panned to the left position at full volume (with multiple audio sources, this can really add up!). All I had to do was move all tracks from the left panning position to the center (or whatever side was ideal), and then adjust each source’s audio to the level that created the mix I was looking for.
The video below talks about the Audio Clip Mixer (even if not specifically about the issue raised in this thread):

Please, let me know if I’m on the right track. Thanks.
