    EDIT:
Guess I already found the answer…since video is 25fps (or any other timebase) you cannot move the audio within that timebase…25fps is 25fps. 😉

Unless someone got the ultimate solution!

In Sony Vegas you can set the framerate to 100fps in the “Project Video Properties” menu, and you’re able to shift video and audio in increments of 1/100 of a second, instead of 1/25 of a second (with PAL)… That is not quite 1/48,000 of a second, but it gave me the extra accuracy I needed…

The video still plays back at 25fps, when I preview it.

Oh, this is most retarded lack of feature. Audio should move to sample accurate in order to do fine lip sync. 48khz means 48000 positions per second, 25 frames means 25 positions per second.

I really can not believe the smallest move step for audio file is based on video frame.

Just in case you guys are still trying to deal with this issue, searching further on google, I found this thread: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/866849.

By switching the timeline unit to audio units (right click on timeline tab) you can freely move your audio.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Guys,

I came here with almost the same problem… just one little difference.
I’m trying to sync 2 video takes for 3D filming.
The problem is that i’m using DLSR and still could not find a way to start the recording at the same time in both cameras.

The problem starts here: I almost always need to move less then 1 frame in the video to get the correct alignment of the images. Is it possible with premiere CS4??

    Thanks in advance!

I don’t know if this is still an issue for people, but I am on Vegas Pro 10 and found out how to fix this. Turn OFF “Quantize To Frames” (Alt+F8) in the Options menu. Zoom in and you no longer are limited to editing on frames.

Thanks John Harris – been looking for that everywhere !

I occasionally get audio spikes/glitches on my older TZ6 camera and I edit them out by ungrouping the audio from the video in Sony Vegas – however I always have to ’round up’ what I take out to the nearest frame, thus maximising the blank audio space

Now I can at least minimise the ‘gap’
