June 2, 2006 at 3:22 pmIt will detect and automatically switch to the form you feed it. The only time you will have to hit the 16:9 button is when you are feeding an anamorphic SD signal. When working in HD it knows that you are feeding a 16×9 signal. You do not need the optional HD-SDI board unless you have to have that kind of connectivity. You can save some money there.

The blue only on the PVM-14L5/1 or 20L5/1 will display as gray bars not the blue you may be accustomed to in earlier models.
In either case the concept of monitor calibration is the same between the two.

June 10, 2006 at 1:44 amI have been thinking about getting this monitor to do color correction for my short movie. I am working in HD, Uncompressed 10bit, 23.98fps. I have the Decklink HD card, but I believe it only has SDI outputs. The PVM-14L5/1 doesn’t have SDI inputs, does it? So I would need to get an option card, at least the SDI correct? Also, does this monitor display, 23.98 or 29.97? Thanks in advance for any help.

that’s correct you will need the SDI Option board to use with that card if it only has SDI output. The monitor does display 23.98 so long as it comes with /1 at the end of the model number.
