I believe all LHi’s are of the newer generation, and all upgradable via current firmware. BUT, you should confirm that with AJA support.

You’ll almost definitely have to dedicate a 1730 (newer) to the LHi.

Personally, I’d jump at a $400 LHi, especially if you have the option of returning it.

Yes, AJA supports says there is only one version of the LHi, so I went for it. There is a return policy, and AJA says if it’s less than three years old, it would still be in warranty, which is transferable.
I figure for 400 bucks, it’s worth taking a bit of a chance to hopefully be fully operational with CS6 and maybe even FCP7, but I’m not counting on that.

I am currently able to use the LHi in FCP7, CS6, CC and CC2014.
Of course, as I stated, I am in Mountain Lion (10.8.5).

Do you ever have audio sync issues on captures? It used to happen to me with FCP7 and Snow Leopard with the LHe card about 25% of the time.
Of course, with Maverick, it’s 100% of the time with that combo. It will be interesting to see how me having basically the same setup as you…except for the Maverick thing….works.
All, or at least 99% of my captures come from tape though, and seldom do I use “Log and Transfer” from cards. I don’t remember having sync trouble for the few times I did that in FCP7 with Snow Leopard, but I didn’t bother trying it with Maverick. I’ve read online that Maverick really messes that part of FCP7 capture up.

I can not recall ever having a video-audio sync problem with the LHe or LHi and I started with the LHe in 2007.

Before pointing the finger at AJA or the OS, I would at least bypass the the DPS-475 (and come in analog) as a test to remove that variable from the possible culprits.

I have also used AJA VTR Xchange and AJA Control Room for capture with great success. I actually prefer VTR Xchange over Control Room, but that may change as I become more familiar with Control Room.

Using Log and Transfer is of course, a completely different method of ingesting media and I do seem to recall some sync issues with P2 media in the early days.

I should add that historically, I rarely captured to any formats other than DV codec or Apple ProRes, so you should include the capture codec onto your list of possible causes. I also work with a decent speed Raid-5 storage system.

It seemed that in the past, I had even more sync problems when capturing direct analog into the Kona. I suspect that it does not really care for tapes that lose sync and don’t have timecode, were started and stopped during recording, clog up, stretch or any of the other myriad of problems that analog tapes can have.
My default capture codec has been ProRes and I use that 95% of the time. Only when a client wants a certain codec, do I venture out of that. My sync problems would occur randomly…seemingly regardless of the codec. It seemed that I had less problems when using the DPS-475 and going in SDI than analog, as that would probably be designed to tolerate incoming sync disturbances a bit better than a Kona card.
But I do know that Premier 5.5 did a flawless 10 bit uncompressed capture through the DPS-475 and the LHe, so I have high hopes for the LHi and CS6.

    Update on this issue…
I’m happy to report that the used LHi card solved ALL of my problems…even the occasional sync problem I’ve had since Day 1 in 2008 with this system. Now, I never have audio/video sync issues when digitizing, and it works great with FCP7 and CS6.
I’m still running Mavericks, because everything is working fine now, and after the last experience with a “free upgrade” to the OS, I don’t think it’s worth taking the risk for Yosemite.

Hi everyone: I’ve tried the apple maverick support page and forum but have not found a solution so I’m turning to my go-to forum for all things mac, editing, etc…

Sometime ago, after what I think was an automatic update to 10.92, a number of my mac apps stopped working. Mail opens but I can respond to an email. Facetime bounces like it’s going to open, then it quits. Same for Quicktime, software update and imessge and facetime.

I thought I’d take the plunge an update to the latest OS. Trouble is, I can’t even connect to the app store. On the apple website, on the page for the new os, I click the link for app store and nothing happens.

So I can’t seem to update. After a couple more autoupdates, I’m on os x 10.95. Same problems, no solution in sight.

    I’m running os 10.95 with a 2.5 Ghz Interl Core i5 iMac, with 8gb 1333 MHz DDR3 ram.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks everyone,
    Steve
