I have run into the same issue…each time the pick arm moves from the feeder side to the Drive side, it moves down about about 1/4 inch, therefore the sensor breaks contact with the felt pad…Im in the process of reinstalling the software to see if that helps…

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Reinstalling software wont help. The gear that is used to lift and lower the arm may be some what loose. So when the arm rotates it allows the head to drop. I finally pulled mine unit apart and found this problem. I felt comfortable doing this but you have to be careful of not damaging prox switches.

That would come loose after only about 1200 DVD’s? Sheesh…can you explain what you did and I can give it a try?

    Thanks for the quick reply!!

you have to dissemble the unit, it’s not that easy to do. I have a mechanical background and didn’t hesitate taking the unit apart Mostly since it wasn’t working correctly). There are to gears attached to the shaft that raises and lowers the head. You might be able to check it by seeing if there is play in the pick up head. you shouldn’t be able to move it left or right very far. If you can the gear may be slipping.

    Have a great Thanksgiving
