April 2, 2009 at 1:43 pmOh, the joys of Final Cut and Graphics. It might be worth a shot to try to change your sequence settings to something higher, such as dv50, then render, then export. DV25 can be hell on anything with graphics, and while some don’t notice or it doesn’t bother them, sometimes it helps tremendously. At this point, it’s definitely worth a shot. Select your timeline, cmd-0(zero), and change the sequence compression settings. Run a test of a minute or two of the timeline, and if it doesn’t help, you can always change it back to dv25.

April 2, 2009 at 2:06 pmThat did not work either. I tried reinstalling and not updating FCP, and it seemed to work normally on export, however I cant open a project file because it was for 6.0.5. Is there a way to convert the project file so I can open it with 6.0?

April 2, 2009 at 3:58 pmIt sounds to me that the playback high quality flag is not turned on for Quicktime.
this is how you do it:
Now, notice I quit Quicktime. After quitting, reopen your movie and try again.

April 2, 2009 at 4:42 pmThanks for the help, but that was not the issue. I did try that, however, I knew something was not correct because I watched it on a DVD and it was still choppy.
I exported my sequences to XML, uninstalled FCP, and then reinstalled. Something went wrong with my system when I updated, so Im just using 6.0 until I find out what the problem is.
Does anyone know if Avid is coming out for Mac?

April 2, 2009 at 4:55 pmWhat, I just saw that you used a 10-15Mbps setting in DVDSP?
SD DVD is at the most 10Mbps, and that’s inculding audio.
I still maintain that this is not an FCP issue, this is just you getting used to how it works and choosing the proper settings, please don’t take offense.
[christopher Griffin] “Does anyone know if Avid is coming out for Mac?”
It’s been out for Mac for a decade and more.

April 2, 2009 at 5:01 pmWhoa, you are correct. I was looking at the HD tab instead of SD.
I really like what Apple offers as far as editing, but I wish it had the workflow of Avid. Being able to create your DVD inside of the same program you edit in without having to export is a tremendous time saver.
What do you suggest for SD DVD? I currently have two pass VBR, 5mbps bit-rate, and 7mbps max bit-rate.
No wonder I wasnt seeing a difference in my encoded video size…

That sounds about right.
