So much for the theory that my 8800 card might be the culprit. Thanks for narrowing that down… I’ll look in other areas now…

Ok, what I’ve come to fine out through my own trials and those of another in my area is that this is not a QT Issue, it’s not a Live Type issue, it’s not a Mac Intel 8 Core issue, but it is a Blackmagic issue.

You’re posts don’t mention it, but I’m guessing that you have a Black Magic card or box or some kind of I/O device from them.

I can’t remember what causes it or how to fix it, but I think if you remove the BlackMagic Codec.component from the Quicktime Library when you use Live Type and rendwer out a QT of the graphic and then put it back when you are done that will give you a work around.

The other option that I and others did was to goe back to FCP 6.0.2 and QT 7.4.1

Hm, I was just thinking this sounds like my problem… then you said it was something to do with Blackmagic. I haven’t got any card in my machine. .ipr files just give me a blank screen in FC. I can render to .mov and import that and it’s OK. But not the .ipr file.

Yeah, my experience and those that I’ve talked to with the same problem were all on Intel Octocore Systems with BlackMagic capture devices.

BlackMagic updated thier drivers and it has been fine since.

I would try updating to the current version of QuickTime (7.5 I think) and Final Cut 6.0.4 (Part of a Pro Apps Update).
