September 13, 2007 at 2:36 pmHi Dave,
I think we have been here before. As i recall our conversation perhaps a year and a half ago, it amounts to the fact that within your organization and mine that an NDA has to be signed and that NDA would open certain proprietary and competitive information on both sides which neither your management team nor mine would be interested in signing.
From here it looks as though the third party solution that we talked about exists and your/our customers are able to enjoy the Vegas solution easily and well.
Best regards,
Jan

September 13, 2007 at 2:49 pmI’m going to step in here and ask to close this thread. The original question was asked and answered — especially thoroughly thanks to our good friends at both Sony and Panasonic.
Two more quick notes. My observation working at Avid was that, whatever real or perceived competition between product lines, there was nothing but the highest regard and cooperation between Apple and Avid at the technology level. MASSIVELY productive and downright satisfying.
The other is that DVCPRO HD is doing great here at the Cow. Our Panasonic forums remain among our very busiest, with among the very highest signal-to-noise ratio in the Cow. I don’t remember when the P2 forum was out of our top 10, out of 150. Often in the top 5.
Indeed, the P2 remains a fast-growing forum — interest and adoption are growing fast.
BTW, all of this applies to HDV too.
Okay, one more observation. If you head to the broadcast video forum, you’ll see plenty of 3/4″ decks floating around. Once more than two people have paid money for the gear, I’m not convinced there’s any such thing as a dead format. 🙂
Again, thanks to our friends at Panasonic and Sony for their peeks behind the curtain.
Back to our regularly scheduled discussion of Sony Vegas.
Yr pal,
Tim
