one of the many small things Apple hasn’t yet done to improve FCP
over many of the recent FCP upgrades they’ve done a lot to improve FCP with some big ticket items, but have pretty much ignored making additions and improvements to the basic toolset
it seems FCP 6 has only just been introduced, so lets just hope they start working on the smaller stuff to spice up some of the usual point release upgrades … or wow us all with a free upgrade to an overhauled FCP 7 when Leopard shipsfwiw it seems like what you want or need to be using is the “Extend ediit” function .. except it doesn’t work in ripple mode.

i dont blade, or control v,
i mark in,
go to next cut,
go back one frame,
mark out.sounds like a lot, of moves, doesn’t it?
but i’ve done it so often it;s practically one keystroke for me.
left hand on io
right on arrows
i, down, right, othen delete or shift delete.
alternatively i remember Ralph Fairwether requesting that the Blade tool could toggle to the selection tool with Option, or similar.
great idea, of course,
but hasn’t happened yet…nick
