is FCP up to the task for 4:4:4 RGB?

Oh porn….

could do the same thing on Genesis too, even from a 4:4:4 SR master.

just because it was shot that way does not mean that you have to post it the same way.

I understand you can shoot 4:4:4 and have the SR deck do the conversion on the
fly if it has the appropriate option card. I gave them that option.

It may still go to film but very limited release so priority is straight to video sales.

Reason I ask is, I once saw an article where that is encouraged even if YUV
is your final destination.

The 4:4:4 capture > 4.2.2 edit is really pretty common and I am amazed how many people try to do it the hard way. For a DVD only release there no reason whatsoever for doing anything more a than a simple HD master.

Even for a limited release the cost savings are astronomical.

YES… best to do this in the deck if possible.

FYI this is a good way to do a offline in DVCPROHD, single link out of the deck from the master tape and you have frame accurate TC and a better offline/ online if you need it.
