November 11, 2008 at 12:00 amJeremy, I just got our HVR-M15U and hooked it up via FW. Capturing perfectly. On capture with the HVR-1500 I kept getting the warning that it was reading NDF so I assumed that the tapes were shot NDF and set the TC as NDF. With the M15 I set it at DF and all is fine. Do you know how to get DF out of the 1500? I am looking through the user manual and don’t see anything.

November 11, 2008 at 3:26 amI have not worked with that deck before, but doesn’t the 1500 have rs422? If you re using 9 pin serial control df/ndf should be detected automatically.

November 11, 2008 at 7:40 pmOk, after banging my head against this all morning. I confirmed with the DP that the field tapes are absolutley NDF. Both the 1500 and the M15 are detecting this correctly. The 1500 is sending NDF TC out. The M15 I cant tell.
-In the AJA control panel it says that the incoming video signal is 1080i29.97.
-I am capturing into DV. Is DV a DF TC codec only?
Thanks, for you help. I feel like a dog chasing his own tail right now.

No, it’s not but it usually defaults to DF. There’s a firewire NDF device control preset.
Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you, I just returned from a job.
