October 17, 2007 at 4:10 pmThanks Kevin!
I think you’re right. I’ve just started fiddling to with anti-alisaing…..I think I’ve almost got it.
Thank you for your input!

October 17, 2007 at 5:40 pmok, so I’ve been able to fix the problem with the thumb guy at the end by feathering the mask a bit and turing off the continuously rasterize button. But NOW as I look at the whole piece again, I notice that the billboard that has the loreal logo on it is doing the same shaking thing as the thumb guy as the camera slowly zooms in. When I turn off the continuously rasterize button it become VERY blurry. The billboard section is NOT precomped, and is an ai file, all the elements are 3-d.
Any suggestions anyone?
THANK YOU!

October 17, 2007 at 5:55 pmis a little blur not going to work here…?
if the aliasing issue is only noticeable as a layer moves in a particular direction (say as the image drifts up and left) you could try just a bit of directional blur (creating a slight faux motion blur effect).

October 17, 2007 at 6:01 pmHi Kevin,
The blur is pretty extreme, and the artwork is supposed to be pretty crisp. II’m going to try a motion/directional blur and see if that works.
Thanks for much for the suggestions!

October 17, 2007 at 6:48 pmcan i assume that the billboard ai file was scaled up quite a bit…?
that would create a situation where the blur would be exagerated by the scale factor. you can enter blur values in fractial amounts, like .15 or .05, if needed.
also after revisiting your link, the directional blur may not be the best blur for the billboard. a little fast blur may be better.
another way to attack the problem is by decreasing contrast between those edges using an outline around the problem areas that is a color some hwere between the two contrasting colors. you’d have to go back to illustrator, but trying a light blue outline around the text might help reduce the anti-alias flicker as the camera moves in on the billboard. ae still has to use anti-aliasing as the lines tavel accross pixel, but the effect should be less noticeable.

October 17, 2007 at 7:20 pmooooh of course!!!! Scaling..duh!
That fixed the type on the bill board. Now just working on getting the flickering to stop on the bottom line of the billboard itself!
Almost there!
Thank you sooooo much Kevin!
