October 9, 2005 at 10:36 pmokay…a freelance producer hired a shooter to get an interview with a subject who has sadly…passed away recently. the material is in IMX but i don’t know what flavor.
A. How can i check this?
B. I only have access to an FCP 5.0HD system at the moment running on a G5 without the flip4mac plugin so even if i did have IMX50 material i can’t really capture it…is that correct? If not, can i capture this material using another codec without gettting the shutters and gitters or do i need to redig all of this stuff on an avid then convert the material do i can use it on FCP.
please HELP

October 10, 2005 at 2:27 pmYour tape machine should be able to tell you which flavor of IMX you are using. If you are using the XDCAM series like I am, then on the screen readout there is a section that tells you which level of IMX is in the machine.
You don’t have to have Flip4Mac at all. FCP 5 has the IMX codec at IMX50 only. Any other IMX like 40 or 30 is going to look pretty bad. I have some footage that was shot at IMX40 and I had to digitize if at IMX50 using the SDI output of my machine. Yes, there is a conversion process taking place but I would say that you would not know if I hadn’t told you. So… to answer you question. Just digitize it using SDI into FCP using the IMX50 codec. Simple.

August 25, 2010 at 2:39 pmHi All,
I am currently using FCP 6 and also have FCP 7. I am experiencing stuttering on exported IMX30 files and cannot work out why this is the case? The footage was shot on DV. Does anyone have a suggestion that could help fix my stuttering images. Its extremely bad when someone walks across the screen and even worse when the end credits are rolling. I think it could be a codec issue perhaps i need a plug in?
Please help 🙂
