November 6, 2008 at 5:23 pmBoys we’ve done it! Seems QT folder had found its way into the application support folder…God only knows how!
Problem now solved IMX clips and sequences playing like they should…one for future reference…
Many thanks

January 11, 2009 at 10:34 pmI too seem to need and am missing the IMXcodec.component
It’s not showing up anywhere in a hard drive search and is not in the library/QuickTime folder.
I made the mistake (it seems) of exporting a MAC Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 project as :
MPG IMX 8-bit NTSC 30 mb/sec 48 kHz (choice in menu)
Now i can’t see any video when I open the resultant file in QT, FCP, or VLC. audio is fine and size of file 18GB indicates there is video there….
QT calls the file a format of MPEG IMX 525/60.
VLC gives this error message:
main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `mx3n’.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video formatI would re-export the project but no longer have it! Had to trash it after the export due to lack pf HD space…
I am trying to open the file and then used compression to reduce the size so i can get it to fit on an ipod or CD.
Can anyone help with this…?

March 8, 2009 at 7:07 pmI’m also having an IMX 50 playback issue….files created on Telestream Pipeline HD on a Mac. These files playback great on a Mac. Trying to get them to playback with QT on a PC is the problem. One one PC with VLC they playback. On another PC without VLC, QT can not play the files back.
Is there a difference between MXF IMX and the QT version?
Thanks!

You seem to have the converse problem … you actually NEED Calibrated Software’s IMX component.
If you use a Quicktime wrapped IMX file on a PC then you’ll need a Quicktime Component that can decode that format … thats what the Calibrated Software IMX Decode Component is for:https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QIMX.asp

November 11, 2009 at 9:25 amHi guys,
A new problem here…..
i have houers of footage on DB and i am digitise them with FCP with the imx 625/50 codec.
Then i have to export them with the same codec (current settings)
I have to do this for an institute called “beeld en geluid” and i have to do this so my client can transcode it on a windows computer with windows media player. The strange thing is that imx50 files from avid can play in WMP but the imx50 files generated from FCP can not play in WMP, they have picture but no sound….
So the codec name is the same but is doing different things….After calling apple and FCP support there is only one solution,
trying a hex editor to change the headers but i have so much material that this is not going to work.Is there anyone facing the same problem and is there somebody with a solution?
Thanks
