Importing images into Media Composer

Hi.
I’m new to media composer and am having the same problem importing jpegs to media composer. Can you please tell me how to use after affects to fix it? It seems like it should be a really easy thing to do.

Can you import high resolution images in Media Composer 5? Without resizing it to the project resolution? And also without using the pan and scan effect?
