I’m still a Premiere fan at heart (albeit, a little less…now) but my experience has been quite negative, so I don’t know if sharing details on a public forum is good form…

Let’s just say that I am not impressed with Ppro and big projects. I agreed to finish the first half of the project, and then will be handing it over to another editor (who is going to finish it in Avid, hah).

On the bright side, I have learned not to bash other NLEs so quickly when they “don’t do it as fast as Premiere.” I truly value some of the strengths they bring to the table now.

To be fair, it sounded like you we given a bloody mess to fix. From your description you were pretty well damned from the get go. Wait and see how the next guy does. It keeps getting passed around for a reason. 😀

Sorry to hear about that… I agree with Tom though, it’s probably not fair to put all the blame on Premiere- between the WMVs and duplicate file names, and considering the hastily-thrown-together nature of the thing, it really sounds like a less-than-ideal situation…

I won’t blame Premiere Pro for the media management, as that is mostly human ignorance. While it is “just an opinion” I will still say that I much prefer Avid for long form projects. I say that not as an Avid old school guy — as I’ve only learned avid in the last 2 years. I’ve been using Premiere about a decade before that.
