Muting a video or audio track can be done very easily in the trackheader (the button with the ‘forbidden’ sign). Add a new audio track (INSERT-AUDIO TRACK) and drag your song from the explorer tab (or from e.g. windows explorer) to this new audio track.

And ofcourse you can also delete the original audio first select the audio and video event and ungroup them by selecting U).
