HPX-500 Pros and Cons

I’m still wondering why there is no color wheel on the 500 (like there is on the 2000/3000). There is only an ND filter wheel.

I tend to disagree about the HPX-500 not being worthy of a $22,000 lens. The 500 is the same camera as the 2000 but without the codec option. Yes, I know there are other differences like 4 card slots instead of 5, better viewfinder, and a wireless slot. But in terms of image quality I can’t find any differences. But, maybe I’m missing something?

Hi David:

I am talking strictly economics here, the HPX is a good camera and I am sure that it looks great with that lens but at that price range for the total package, many other options come into view as well or will be coming into view at NAB in a few months.

I’m just saying, if it were me, I wouldn’t do it. Would be great to see side by side footage tests of the HPX with the good lens like the Fuji or Canon CAC lenses versus a great lens.

First off, I love the 500. There is no color wheel since when you white balance with either the A or B white balance switches it automatically selects 3200 or 5600. There is a preset switch and for that you set 3200 or 5600 in the SW menu. The wheel just gives you ND choices that work with either 3200 or 5600.
