I also have been requested to deliver in the IRE 7.5 format but I am delivering a ProRes file uploaded to an FTP. Should I set my blacks to 7.5 or 0???

I believe they will be laying off to DigiBeta and HDCam after I deliver it to them. What is the proper protocol on this?

IRE does not exist in digital video. There are no volts. Their request is nonsensical.

Video black in 8-bit is 16. That’s it.

Unless you’re laying it out to analog tape, there isn’t IRE involved.

You might want to ask them what they mean.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Here’s a thang:

I export SMPTE bars from Avid (601/709) as ProRes(HQ).

I bring that file into FCP 7 and the bars now don’t hit 0 and 100.

Is it that FCP scopes which say 0% to 100% actually are saying that is 0-255 RGB?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thx,
    Jacob
