For huge files you might end up having to use something like Aspira or other high end file transfer company. And by then it’s as much money as shipping a drive. HUGE files…stuff 50GB and over…you can do if you get professional versions of things like DropBox.

[Jenn Lindsay] “So….just to be really clear with everyone. There’s no good way to do this electronically?”

Jenn, I did some searching and while I’ve never used this service, MEGA seems to offer a Lite plan of 200GB storage with 1TB bandwidth per month for 4.99 €. I assume that is way cheaper than the price of a thumb drive and probably cheaper than shipping from Italy to the USA. Even if they return the thumb drive, if shipping is more than 5 euro you might want to take out a 1 month Lite subscription to MEGA.

At first I thought you could use their free 50GB storage option but that is limited to 10GB bandwidth per upload per 30 minutes so I don’t believe you can upload one big 49GB file with the free plan. 🙁

Do they have their own FTP site? If so, you can transfer it directly to them and by-pass the commercial transfer services. It will take a while, but there won’t be any file size limitations. You might need an FTP transfer application, but they are usually fairly inexpensive.
