How to do this effect? Shadow dancing differently from person?

January 14, 2012 at 9:22 pmThe aspect ratio of the shadow shows the light was from the right, just like the light is hitting her, yet she is casting no shadow. That’s why I think she was keyed in. The amount of rotoscoping to make this would take way too long. A little practice with correct lighting and a greenscreen would be easy and WAY faster.

January 14, 2012 at 10:41 pmThe violinist is definitely throwing a shadow on the floor. Her key light is to our left as evidenced by the shadow of the bow on her forehead and her shadow going to our right.
The plywood shadow was shot with a single flood on our right.
I really think this can be fairly easily done in Vegas with the split-screen technique as long as the two subjects don’t cross.

January 25, 2012 at 4:33 pmThis was surely fancy cropping 1:48 and 2:15 were just split seconds that had to be key framed. The reason they were just split seconds is because key framing is so tedious. They probably key framed 30 to 50 frames.
I could be wrong. It is a neat project though. Maybe I will do one and post, but I won’t be doing all that key framing.
You could do this a variety of ways, green screen included. I think the simplest way is best.
