    Yes, use keywords for overlapping favs. Also keep in mind you can apply a shortcut to a keyword. So you could create a rating with keywords.

    For example: CTRL-1 is “*****” CTRL-2 is “***”

    Now you create your in out for the first range, hit F and hit CTRL-1 to mark it 5star. Select Your second range, hit F and CTRL-2 keywording it 3star

    You will now have two bins 5star and 3star which will also hold your favourites.
    If you now start also keywording your favourites (instead of renaming the clips) you can create smartcollections that contain “5star shots”, favourites and the keyword “museum of modern art” for example.

    Try it, you will be amazed how quickly you organized your material
