March 25, 2008 at 12:19 amThanks guys. I’m going to keep plugging away at this. I’ve learnt a lot so far, and it’s been fun (albeit a bit frustrating at times, lol). I’ve actually got the lens flare matched almost spot on now. Dragon/text reveal i’m working on now. Thanks for the tips Mike – I think i can follow that. Particles I will leave to last, as that’s proving the most difficult to nail! I do have Particular, and also Knoll Light Factory Spectacular, and I noticed that the polygon particle is an exact match. But i’ve yet to figure out the movement or the shimmering. I sure picked a tough one!!

March 26, 2008 at 10:54 pmOK, I’ve uploaded my progress so far to the link below;

Something still not quite right, although the lack of particles make a big difference I think, as they act like an explosive trigger for the final reveal. Without that, it feels a bit flat.

March 26, 2008 at 11:44 pmIMO, the original light source ramps up in intensity and the reveal intensifies as this ramping of the light source increases it’s intensity.
My feeling is that the light intensity’s exponetial increase in intensity is parented to the reveal layer.

March 26, 2008 at 11:48 pmYes, i think you’re right. I originally thought to have the lens flare be the light source, and have it light up everything else, but not sure how that would be achieved, or if that’s even the right way to approach it. At the moment, I just have a black layer fading out on top as everything else gets brighter, but it doesn’t have the necessary impact.

March 27, 2008 at 12:24 amInstead of a solid black layer… you might try a layer has some noise… by that, the layer may need have some shades of gray (which means the black layer has some characteristics which are basically a semitransparent matte before the opacity changes)… in fact, the layer may actually be an active/moving noise layer… which means you may need to find something like a cloud to create the matte for what you are using as a black layer now. Tough to tell exactly what could be used… but, you might need to experiment with your black layer.
