How can I avoid ‘hard cuts’ in editing?

September 25, 2018 at 5:12 amkill the wing and use 10 frame cross fades for audio. Also J or L cuts help.

November 11, 2018 at 6:20 pmBut how do I avoid using them? It seems that they are in lots of places, and it’s not a matter of not using them, it’s a matter of knowing how to turn a hard cut into a soft cut.
The only places they exist are during locations changes. How do editors transition from one location to the next without it cutting so jarringly?
