Charles Trippy is a top youtuber with over 183 million views on his show Internet Killed Television.

You can make fun of him but it really just makes you all look sad. Sure, FCPX is DOA for many broadcasters. I’d even go so far as to say that Apple has betrayed, and lost, the professional market. (Maybe “betray” is too strong a word.) And yes, Charles’ overview of FCPX is lame and full of Apple’s patented reality distortion. (Most of the features he says are new are actually in the last version.) But let’s not throw around stereotypes and trash people’s character just because you’re pissed off over what Apple did.

And a really great editor that’s for sure who really knows his way around an NLE.

Apologies to Trippy for not taking him seriously – it’s bad form. He seems like a nice enough guy and I wish him all the best. The future of editing is in safe hands.

[Mark Suszko] “And it could be even more hipsterish if only he delivered it while riding a fixed-gear messenger bike.”

Fixies are the single most annoying urban hipster fad since the “swing revival” of the late 1990s.

Every time I see some douchebag with ear gauges in tight black jeans and an ironic tee shirt and go flying through a red light on his fixie and nearly kill a pedestrian, I pray that a bus or a tanker truck with faulty brakes is coming the other way…

Top youtuber? Is that supposed to be something respectful or impressive? The problem is not that he is a dude working from his bedroom on videoblogs for you-crap-on-the-tube. The problem is that his editing sucks! As demonstrated by that video.
Couldn’t care less if he is a top youtuber, a bottom youtuber or a sideways youtuber.

Yes it is. You may not like his videos and I confess I don’t really like them either… but millions watch them. Personally in my 25 years in broadcast I’ve been responsible for my fair share of crap on TV and elsewhere. The reality is people watch crap and sometimes, despite best efforts, you end up making crap. Charles and many other Youtubers are building a marketplace that you and I may find ourselves in someday. Maybe we’ll be making crap, maybe not. Hopefully we’ll be able to make a lot more money that he does so we can support more than just ourselves working out of our bedroom.

Again, is that supposed to be impressive?

The day my end market is youtube is the day I move on to another line of work. I would rather sell used cars.

The people who watch video online are the same people who watch TV and go to the movies.

Millions of folks saw Rebecca Black’s Friday video too. People love train wrecks.

Anyway, he has his audience, good on him. Final Cut Pro X was made for him and his friends 😉
