February 18, 2011 at 4:07 amQuick followup…
This timecode has still been a nightmare. I just don’t see it being actual TC breaks, since these are film transfers done by &Transfer. Could older tape have issues? Some of this is from the early ’90s.
Jeremy– I tried that creating that text file. No luck.
Chad– I like your theory, but I FCP won’t let me capture without interruption with these breaks. I do have the option checked to warn after capture, but this isn’t a great solution. I have 60+ one hour tapes that I don’t want to babysit 🙁
Sam– I wonder if this is a performance issue. The digitizing station I’m using has 2 Dual-Core Intel Xeons at 2.66GHz. I’m capturing to a SAN via fibre. Each core is hovering from 80-90%.

February 18, 2011 at 4:28 amHit up AJA. And have them send you the file. I have it at the office as well. I can send tomorrow.

February 18, 2011 at 4:33 amHaha. Sorry Jeremy, poor communication on my part. I had no problems creating the file. The file did not solve my problem.

February 18, 2011 at 4:39 amYour FCP capture and deck are set for 29.97? And your sure none of these tapes are 23.98?

February 18, 2011 at 4:40 amSomething about your last post reminded me that the create your own file didn’t work, but the AJA one did.
Let me find it, I know I have it. If THAT doesn’t work then it’s time to hit the eject button and call it a millennium.

February 18, 2011 at 4:44 amDeck is at 29.97 and all tapes are 29.97. They are labeled on the spine, font and physical tape.
Thanks Jeremy. I’m apparently starting to lose my mind some what. FCP did give me a message after creating that text file.
“One or more unsupported enabler filters are installed. Blue render bars will appear in the Timeline to indicate areas of real-time playback that may drop frames as a result of this non-standard configuration.”
I ignored it, as it didn’t seem relevant.

February 18, 2011 at 5:05 amFound it on an old machine laying around here. I used to get this error a lot when I used to capture from tape (tape is not something I use too much anymore). This used to put that error away.

Give it a shot. Unzip and place in:
Library > Application Support > FCP System Support > Plugins
