    Walter,
I agree that it’s easier to keep it native. The 1200 is set up with SDI coming out and going back in. I’ve ingested the video as Panasonic DVCPRO HD 59.94 8 bit with an 8 bit sequence. I’m able to put it on the timeline without having to render, but there are some audio sync problems.

So are you capturing through a capture card in a DVCPro HD Preset or an 8bit Uncompressed HD preset? Generally we talk about working in the DVCPro HD codec or in Uncompressed 8bit, not 8bit DVCPro HD (even though that’s what DVCPro HD is). Makes it easier to distinguish which format you’re working in.

Do you have the Playback Offset set correctly for your system? On a Kona system it should be 0.

Oh and one more thing, if you did capture using the DVCPro HD codec, make sure you did NOT change anything in the DVCPro HD Sequence. some people see that the sequence is 960×720 and change it manually to 1280×720, don’t do that. DVCPro HD is 960×720 and FCP scales it back out to 1280 on the way out.

Or if you try to edit in an 8bit 720 timeline, you’re actually scaling out the video in the timeline. You don’t need to do that. Just stay in a DVCPro HD timeline.
