    Vegas Pro isn’t compressing anything. This is what the device produces. You have no control over this. HDV is a fixed compression and the same bit rate as DV and you can’t change it. That’s what makes it HDV.

    This is fine for editing. I edit HDV all the time from my Sony Z1U and it looks great.
