will the 900 push gps meta out the HD-SDI? can you hook an hpg20/”gear” to the hd-sdi, record to .mxf with meta for gps? you would also get the added advantage of recording avc-intra if you used a hpg20, but you could use an hpg10 and record dvcpro if you need to match other footage shot with 900….. still not sure the gps works the way you need it but that might get you the data…..

I found your post through a Google search. We are using a fairly expensive commercial system (h/w and s/w) to record GPS signal on the audio track and then view & process the video with a synchronized map “live” at the office. It is quite an expensive system and I’ve been asked by clients to see about any cheaper alternatives. You mention the cost of $400, could you perhaps post a link to the vendor?
