December 15, 2009 at 6:38 pmI didn’t think there was an issue with this video. Are you saying that something should be different?
The video is displaying exactly as animated. If there is something I can do to improve it, please let me know… but I’m not understanding what needs changed.
The video (flv) is 310×230 – a not perfect mathematical 16×9 ratio, but displays correctly without skewing or showing interlacing lines.
The flv and swf controls are displayed on a swf canvas size of 420×275. That shouldn’t matter what aspect ratio,…. or should it?
The web developer shouldn’t have to worry about anything other than making sure the div brings in the swf to match the swf size at 420×275 is what I’m thinking.
Thanks for your input!

“As far as I can tell it is filling the screen, although it is text so most issues really won’t be seen unless you have real footage.

Again, aspect ratio affects more than just size, it also affects compression. You should really keep the same aspect ratio as the original.

Good point, I’m used to our flv player where controls are hidden…
The default skin size for controls is 20 pixels (which I’m guessing this is), 275-20=255.
Which makes the actual frame size 420×255, that is still not close to 16:9.

That’s correct, which he hasn’t done in that case. The web frame has a ratio of 1.64 (420:255), your video a ratio of 1.34 (310:230)
Make sure he does take in account the size of that control bar in the calculation.
A couple of links. This one about optimum frame size, and this about encoding.
