Not true. However, there is an issue with having many codecs installed, maybe this is what you’re thinking.
If all the original poster has a drive full of Avid media there is nothing that FCP can do to use the media. If the original poster has an OMF 2.0 export of the edited sequence as well as the media files, then Automatic Duck’s Pro Import FCP can allow you to import the sequence and use the Avid media (Pro Import FCP creates QuickTime reference movies, fooling FCP into playing the media). From there you can use the Media Manager to recompress the media into a codec that FCP is more happy to play.

I recently had problems with FCP 5.1.2 and Avid codecs installed. The Software would not load with these codecs loaded in QT folder. I am sure you have a workaround as you are the pre-eminent FCP AVID AE “gobetweener”.
