    Hi,

I highly recommend being as meticulous as possible with your project. If this is your baby and you expect it to get bigger as you work along then you should plan ahead now and create individual projects. What I did was take my film which I was having ridiculous problems with and split it up into 7 segments. I basically created 7 pieces which I could keep under control and worked with them as one chapter at a time. It turns out that FCP loves it now and allows me to use heavy filters and move on with my life. Just create a folder and start creating those chunks and title them accordingly. I basically chose parts in my movie where you would move onto a whole new sequence. this keeps it easy to work with and has no glitches.

    Best of luck!

I know but the weird thing is that right now it’s giving me problems, and the file is only 8mb, so I cant edit even now that im just starting, so it has to be something else… thanks anyway

If your having those issues with a project that small, try destiny your Fina cut preferences. That sometimes fixes the issues. I also had to upgrade my video card to one that is super heavy duty for processing.

Sorry about the dumb last post with the horrible spelling mistakes. Its the ridiculous iphone auto spell correct. In any case what I was trying to say was make sure you delete your Final Cut Pro preferences first. You can do this by downloading a nifty little App called “Preference Manager” and it does the rest. Once you do that hopefully it should make a difference. If not the you may need to upgrade your video card to something that can handle the processing you’re doing.

    Best of luck

    Hey there,

I get not only the flashing green but also a flashing black screen that comes more often but doesn’t last very long. it happens more when I did large speed changes or reverse in direction. I reset the preferences, RT is not unlimited, and took out all my audio files. I thought that when I exported the video it wouldn’t be such a problem but all the flashing remained there.

The file is only 2 minutes long but full of effects. What could be a solution to this?

My computer is: IMac 3.2 GHz intel core i3, ATI radeon HD 4570

I take recording from my xbox (.mp4 files) and import them into final cut- is that the problem?

    Let me know,

    Rob

Yes there is a solution but you have to start with your footage first. Whats your timeline set up as? Are you editing HD or SD footage. If its mp4 video footage then you want to make sure that your footage is converted to a FCP friendly codec such as Apple Prores 422 HQ. I had to covert all my files to that codec and replace my video card to get away from the issues. I hope that helps.

can i convert the clips into the proper format in final cut pro? I would rather not have to redo my movie… and I am working in all HD 1080i

    thanks for the help,

    Hi,
Yes you can and you have to use Media Manager from inside FCP to convert the files. Once you do that it should just need re rendering if your time line does not match your output. I think there’s a few links on CC for how to use Media manager that should help give you much better explanation.

    Thanks

Hey so I tried converting the files to a bunch of different Hd prores but non of them are working. I went back and reloaded the clips and edited them again with less effects and they seem to be a lot better. The glow effect seems to do some damage to the clips.

Is this a graphics card issue?
