    Jared,

I had the same problem every time I exported using share>export media>current settings. I didn’t bring it up because no body else seemed to have the problem and I was using a trial version. Also, my video did not look like yours constantly, just at certain points, but the video was completely unusable. I got around this (and I’ve exported many projects with great results) by choosing prores 422 and then converting the video for the client via iskysoftly.

After exporting share>export>prores 422 the video plays perfectly.

This is the only way I got it to work. I hope this helps.

[Jared Jacobsen] ” the problem began to occur in the timeline and appeared perhaps tied to the color correction because when I turned off color correction the problem disappeared “

That says a lot and reminds me when SHAKE was broken.
When rendering in 32bFP (as FCPX color engine does) and exported to 10b, we got the same picture, although static.

I would try, as Jeremy has suggested, trashing preferences and if that doesn’t works, reinstalling FCPX.

had your video applied Color Correction (or any other kind of color effect) only at “certain points”

    Hi Rafael,

Actually yes, you might be on to something, the file was color corrected before broadcast in a Tricaster 300 prior to import, then edited and slightly tweaked in FCP X, and I did use some of their presets such as lens flare and old film look then exported using: Share>Export Media>Current Settings. But I haven’t had any problems when exporting to proress 422.

Thanks for all your input. Unfortunately trashing preferences and rendered files didn’t help nor did exporting in any of the other codec options. When I reimport the footage and put it into a new project I don’t have any problems with the export (even when I do a variety of color correcting). Any further suggestions on how to avoid encountering this problem on future projects? Should I just reinstall FCP X?

    Thanks!

Any chance we could look at the source clips- might help to figure out what the problem is. Maybe you could post a few seconds of the original someplace?

I have exactly the same problem – FCPX 10.0.3. regardless of the output file format. At one stage I even got static when scrubbing on the time line, corresponding with where the static was in the finished clip. I am working through the problem but I could just about guarantee it is something to do with the project/import settings preparing for the import of your camera clips.

One thing I did do, was change the import/project settings from 1440×1080 to 1920×1080 and that could have helped.

I still have this problem but for some reason only when I am importing footage from my panasonic which uses a P2 card. Not sure why this is? Did you solve your problem by changing the project settings?

Yes I have solved the problem (I use P2 as well, by the way – I forgot to mention this). I think it was a combo of the project and import settings and changing the 1440×1080 to 1920×1080, but I also exported to uncompressed 10-bit video. Everything is ok at the moment after doing all of this, although I am not sure which change did it, exactly.

    Just confirming:

I have again fixed this problem (which appears to be only with P2 files) by going into the project settings (the spanner/wrench button) and (for HD vision) changing 1440×1080 to 1920×1080 and this is even when the P2HD files are really 1440×1080.

    Strange, but true!
