Final Cut Pro off of a Windows file server

glad to help.
we had a NT server we were using as a ‘transfer point” between mac and pc, as it seems we could never reliably see our PC’s on the network from our Macs.
it was pretty fast, and because of the raid 5 config it was 99% fall safe
it was never fast enough to edit off of, but whenever we captured footage we would copy it off to that server overnite for safe keeping.
just to give you an idea, we wound up keeping 500 gB on there at any time.
we now have an apple xserver, and its pretty much the same as far as speed and relibility
when you are doing hi resolution video, you really need a dedicated, reliable storage system. Other than fiber channel, dedicated gigabit eithernet is the only other way i have seen.
