You must be right, they even call the setting SQUEEZED, but their explanation is misleading; “extracting 4:3 shaped patch out of the center…”

    Thanks

    Hi,
Our sequence settings are DV Pal 48Khz Anamorphic

Is this a known issue in Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 or is it something we should be able to solve. We do have a workaround but would love a fix!
    Thanks for your help 🙂

    David,

Open your QT in Quicktime Player, go to Window>>Show Movie Properties>>Presentation, then check the Conform aperture box and change its drop-down menu to “Production,” then do a File>>Save. From now on that QT will open properly as anamorphic widescreen.

    Good luck,
    David

    Hi there,
    Thanks for your reply.
We already have this in operation, wherby they export then go into quicktime.
We really need a definative answer to if you should be able to export as 16:9? Or is this a known bug in FCP 6.0.6.
As our students \ staff only see the quicktime fix as a workaround for now?

    Thanks,
    Dave

This not a bug and is the oldest and well known issue of QT.
By default QT display everything as Squared Pixels.
Thus when playing 16×9, looks like 4×3. But neither is 4×3.
Solution: Whatever you do to be played in a computer, do it with Square pixels. You’ll never have more distortions.
